4. Dear Spartacus

Spartacus is the name of a tramway that will connect Hasselt in Belgium to Maastrich in the Netherlands. I was invited by the project company De Lijn to react to the tramway, in particularly, to the future tram stop Campus Dieepenbeek in Hasselt which is currently a bus stop.

Dear Spartacus invites students, colleagues of De Lijn and other participants to write a card addressed to Spartacus.

The ritual of card giving and card writing is a reflective practice that celebrates turning points in our lives. It evokes feelings and emotions and depicts nostalgia, the past, present and the future as well as hope, celebration and joy. Like a person, a project goes through ups and downs, growth, change and maturity. By writing a card to Spartacus, the project attempts to capture the multifaceted emotions connected to the project as well as to give it a new breath of hope.
